North Palm Beach, FL 6 March 1999
My camera sprung a leak on the 4th dive of the day. I did take a roll a film on the 1st and 2nd dives though.
I was descending, and was about 20 feet that I noticed one of the clips that holds the camera housing shut tight was loose. And sure enough there was water inside. I immediately swam to the surface and handed the thing to the boat Captain (Mike), and asked to do what he could to salvage it. After the dive, I found that the camera was totally screwed. After drying it and replacing the batteries, it would not even power on. A new, replacement camera costs $200. The accessories, ie the strobe light and close-up lens cost far more than the camera, so I'll have to replace it one of these days. I think I'll catch lobsters for a while, since I caught 2 later that day, and found it quite enjoyable (of course I don't eat or clean them... I leave that up to whoever I give them to). Another reason to get a replacement is that later that day, I did a night dive on the wreck of the Princess Anne, and another night dive on the Breakers where I could have caught 6 turtles on film.

These two photos are of the same BIG ray as I approached it.
