Blue Springs, FL 26 June 1999

My nephew, Joshua Talburt, and I dived this spring in Orange city today. We arrived at the park just before 8a.m. to find a line of cars already watiing for the gate to open.   We were the second group of divers to sign in. There were many others after us. The ranger told me they allow a maximum of 40 divers in during the day.  I don't know how you could even get 10 divers in the spring at one time.  Fortunately only 3 other divers were in the spring some of the time we were there.

I had brought the neighbor kids, 16 and 9 y/o and they snorkeled above us while we were in the cavern, then after the dive we took the tanks & gear back to the blazer (what a haul!), then rented 2 tubes/floats for the non-divers, and all four of us floated down the river to the end of the park where they have an area fenced off for swimming, complete with a lifeguard.

It was a nice dive, over by 11a.m.   I'll do this easy dive again, especially if I can find a cavern diver to go with.

Directions:  Exit I-4 to Orange City, off Rt 17-92, follow signs.
